Welcome, officially to Our Beloved Medium (henceforth referred to as OBM), a six part podcast series about the history of radio…well a few very small parts of it anyway. The full history of radio could never be covered in just six 45-minute episodes. 

What we’re doing with OBM is curating six stories about events that more or less played out over the radio airwaves. Whether it’s the Nazis staging a radio hijacking, or a small radio station taking the FCC to court (The Supreme Court) the airwaves have proven to be a battleground for propaganda, free speech, ideas and sometimes, conspiracy theories. Our goal with each episode is to tell stories that are both interesting in and of themselves, while also being an offramp for bigger conversations.

Over the course of the next year or so, we’ll be giving subscribers a behind the scenes look at our creative process, previews of each episode and the reasons why we’re making this series to begin with.

In the meantime, we need help. We need help spreading the word. If this seems like something your friends, family or colleagues would enjoy, please share it with them.

Also, we need money. We’re currently a team of two people (likely adding a third soon) with a shoestring budget and creating this independently is really our only option. Below is a link, and if you feel compelled, feel free to donate as much or little as you see fit. 

In doing so, you’ll help an independent production tell a story that needs to be told. In return, we pledge as much transparency as possible, and when all is said and done, a finished series that is impactful, unique and well crafted.
